Viral and bacterial infections are among the leading causes of disease and death. Our research is dedicated to finding effective treatments for life-threatening infectious diseases, focusing on hepatitis B, influenza and multiple drug resistant bacteria.

Infectious diseases caused by viral or bacterial pathogens are one of the main causes of death and disease worldwide and constitute an ever-growing medical need. Developing countries have been strongly affected by this, but Western World and East Asia also face major health problems in this area.
Roche focuses on the discovery, research and development of new anti-infective agents that target both pathogen and host immune defense. In this regard, we are building an industry-leading technology platform and a rich heritage of research in this field that produces some outstanding therapeutic agents throughout Roche's history.
